Finding the right Driving Schools for your lessons

When driving lessons are designed to match your abilities you'll learn faster, take fewer hours and be more likely to pass your driving test first time. If you don't enjoy what you are learning you are more likely to want to give up!

So how do you find the right driving school?

Well there will be plenty of driving schools advertising in your local area, but don't just be tempted by the lowest cost driving lessons, or the biggest, brightest offers. Pick driving schools that fits the vision in your head of what you think it should be like to learning to drive.

Find the driving schools that realistically have the time available to give you regular lessons. And don't forget to read the reviews from others that have used their service before.

To give you a picture of what it's like taking driving lessons with the most popular driving school in the area, I've answered some of the questions you might be thinking of asking:

Question 1: Do you have customer reviews handy, from people who have taken driving lessons with you previously that I can read?

Answer: Yes they are all over our website, social media and can also be found on internet review sites like freeindex. Typically people want to know the experience other people had when booking lessons with us. They want to read about what their driving instructor was like, if they felt confident with them and their teaching skills, and if they had any complaints.

Question 2: Do you offer some sort of a trial?

Answer: Yes you can book one of our Try Us deals so you can get first-hand experience of what it's like taking driving lessons with one of our Elite driving instructors, and get a feel for the car you will be learning in. Try Us deals are very important because you will be spending a good few hours with your driving instructor, and you need to feel confident that they are the right person to help you succeed in becoming an independent driver.

Note: Choosing the cheapest driving lesson offers isn't always the best strategy because often if driving instructors are forced to work for well below their standard rate they might be tempted to save petrol, which means you might be sat behind the wheel of the driving tuition vehicle but you won't move an inch until you start paying the normal lesson rate.

Question 3: Can you offer regular driving lessons each week?

Answer: Yes, we team you up with an instructor who can fit #drivinglessons around your availability so that you get a regular lesson each week, and if you want more than one lesson each week we can arrange that too.

NOTE: Some driving schools will get you started but not be able to offer you regular weekly driving lessons which means missing weeks at a time without a lesson. The lack of frequency will slow your learning progress leaving you feeling frustrated, deflated and ready to give up.

Question 4: Do you offer an alternative to the traditional one hour driving lessons?

Answer: Yes experience has taught us that one hour lessons are not enough practical time in the tuition vehicle, whereas two hours are too long for most and can leave you fatigued at the end of the lesson and not able to commit what was learnt to memory. Ninety minutes is the perfect driving lesson time for learners WHY? Here’s a few Interesting Facts:

Did you know in 1877 the length of a football game was set to 90 minutes because it was deemed to be the most appropriate length of time because it catered for the fitness levels of most players and the concentration/interest levels of those watching.

Did you know that a 90-minute nap between 1pm and 4pm in an afternoon has been scientifically proven to help your cognitive functions for creativity, memory retention and logic? It seems like the Spanish and Italians have got it bang on with siestas

Question 5: Do you get recommended much?

Answer: Thankfully yes! Most of our business is recommended to us. This is really important because if someone is willing to recommend us to their close friends and family you know they really trust us and so can you.

Question 6: How long have they been established?

Answer: The driving school owner has been a #drivinginstructor since 1988, that's over 28 years of service helping learner drivers get their full driving licence. He's passionate about giving students the ultimate customer experience combined with real value for money. Which is why all Elite driving instructors willingly participate in regular professional development courses which are a combination of in house training and workshops with leading experts around the UK.

Question 7: Do Elite driving instructors set goals and targets for each lesson?

Answer: Yes very much so, targets keep you on track and your instructor will set Goals so that you can measure your progress. They also plan your #drivinglessons many weeks in advance in preparation for the final goal of passing your test and becoming a safe and independent driver.

Question 8: Do you do intensive courses?

Answer: We don't do intensive courses per se because we know that most people's definition of an intensive course is a load of lessons in one week with a test at the end! The big problem with these types of courses is results...

To reach the required standard in a week to sit a driving test would depend on your natural ability to learn stuff immediately, your previous experience and your ability to concentration for long periods of time behind the wheel.

Nationally the pass rates for one-week intensive courses are very low, and the people we speak to that have taken a one week course with other schools felt let down with the lack of organisation, lesson structure and reliability. And some said they never got to sit the test at the end of the course because the instructor wouldn't make the car available for the test.

We do however offer driving courses with a driving test at the end...Our courses typically last from two to five weeks depending on the students previous driving history. We generally assess each person's ability before selecting the course that suits them best. From that point everything is meticulously planned to ensure things run smoothly. Ring the office for details...

Okay so now you've found one of the regions longest establishised and most reputable diving schools so why not see what it's really like sat behind the wheel of a car with an Elite Driving Instructor helping you master the skill of independant driving. And to get you started you can take advantage of one of our unique Try Us deals.
